Taking a critical eye to one's own workplace can open up a myriad of fresh observations that had previously been taken for granted. Such was the case when this assignment called upon me to evaluate the spaces and services my library branch was making available to our young adult patrons. Though much of the information contained in my report were things that lurked in my subconscious, quantifying and committing them to paper allowed me to assess my branch's successes in serving teens as well as its areas of potential improvement in a more "real" way than simply encountering them in my day-to-day work week. Self-reflection such as this is a worthy art to practice from time to time, as it plays a vital role in the process of lifelong education by taking stock of what has been and has yet to be achieved.
